Our Story

Jennifer Johnson - Owner, Baker
Jennifer opened Johnson's Bakery on November 18th, 2014. She had been baking and decorating cakes for family and referrals from home until that point. In November 2013, Jennifer competed in Bastrop's first Adult Entrepreneur Business Plan Competition and WON!!! That put the dream of "someday owning a bakery" into motion.
Jennifer graduated with a Bachelor's in Business Administration from Tartleton State University on May 14, 2011. Shortly after graduating, Jennifer began working at OriGen Biomedical in Austin. There she learned invaluable skills - from planning the company's conferences and meetings to being a confident and compassionate leader from her immediate manager, Beth San Segundo, all the way up to the CEO, Richard Martin.
Outside of work: Jennifer loves spending quality time with her amazingly supportive husband and their three boys and daughter. She enjoys gardening, fishing, cooking/baking, canning and spending time with their chickens and ducks in her "down time".
I have enjoyed baking since I was a little girl. My mother always baked and decorated my birthday cakes. Growing up, I loved tearing out recipes from my mother's cooking magazines and saving them. Every Saturday I would always bake cookies, a cake or a dessert. I definitely credit my mother, both of my wonderful grandmothers, my awesome mother-in-law and aunts for my love and success for cooking and baking. My favorite thing in the world is seeing someone enjoy something that you've made for them. That truly makes my world complete! #ediblelove #lovingthroughfood
I would not be where I am today without God! He has truly blessed me and continues to comfort and guide me unfailingly. Part of those blessings is a husband who works hard to support us, continues to encourage me and is the SOLE reason why our family has clean clothes to wear (because I can't remember the last time I did laundry)! The other blessings are my wonderful children who are my BEST marketers and my family and close friends that have continued to love and encourage me each step of the way.

Elena Flores - Manager, Head Cake Decorator
Elena graduated from Cedar Creek High School in June 2014. She started working in food service the summer of 2013. After two years of dedication and hard work, she advanced into management. While working on the management team she sharpened her problem solving, leadership and communication skills. In January 2017, Elena began her career here at Johnson's Bakery. She began as a part-time employee but quickly promoted to full time with her exceptional customer service skills and determination to go over and above what was being asked of her.
Outside of work: Elena loves spending time with her son. Family is #1 to her. She enjoys watching Grey's Anatomy, cooking new things, photography, art and learning new creative projects when she has time.
Elena has been a huge asset to the bakery! She was initially hired to work part time during lunch. She gave an interest in cake decorating and we've been astounded with her growing skills and love of her talent ever since. She is now our full time decorator and manager! Elena is possibly the nicest person you'll ever meet, very dependable and giving.
